The juniors and seniors of Laconia Christian Academy are traveling to Guatemala this spring, April 20th – May 1st, for their annual Service/Learning Missions Trip.
The headmaster of LCA, Rick Duba, has promised the students that if they raise $10, 000 he will shave his entire head. If the $10, 000 goal is reached the event will be live-streamed via Facebook and Instagram during their Winter Carnival on March 20th. Those who give $50 or more will be entered into a raffle with the opportunity to personally shave a strip of his hair. Those who give $100 or more will be given a free “Bald Duba” t-shirt once his head is shaven. Those who give $500 or more are guaranteed to shave a portion of his head at the Winter Carnival and receive a t-shirt.
During the mission trip the students have the privilege of working with John and Donna Reynolds at Cross Commission, a ministry in San Cristobal, Verapaz, Guatemala (http://crosscommission.org/
The total cost of the trip is about $1900 per student. This includes airfare, transportation, and lodging and meals while in Guatemala. It also includes a budget of $6,000 for vented cook stoves and fresh water systems.
