Tuesday, October 17, 12:15pm Contra Dancing in NH: Then & Now presented by Dudley Laufman at the Tilton Senior Center, 11 Grange Road, Tilton. Since the late 1600s, the lively tradition of contra dancing has kept people of all ages swinging & sashaying in barns, town halls, & schools around the state. Contra dancing came to NH by way of the English colonists & remains popular in many communities. Presenter Dudley brings this tradition to life with stories, poems & recordings of callers, musicians, & dancers, past & present. Live music, always integral to this dance form, will be played on the fiddle and melodeon. This program is FREE, open to ALL, and made possible through a generous NH Humanities grant.
