A presentation on the evolution of rail service in the Lakes Region, focusing on the Laconia stations, will occur on Thursday, April 10, at 6:30 p.m. in the Woodside building at Taylor Community.
This free event, part of the Laconia Historical & Museum Society’s “Our Yesterdays 2025 Presentation Series,” highlights the Laconia Passenger Station’s historical significance as a transportation hub since the completion of the Lake Shore Railroad in 1890. The presentation will cover the timeline from the railroad’s beginnings to current operations, featuring Frank Judge, who developed a passion for railroading in his youth and has since restored several cabooses.
